Not exactly cheap. And by not exactly cheap, if you plan to go race-day, you'd might as well just get a 3-day ticket.
Still, for friends and significant others who only have a passing interest, taking them out for practice or qualifying is now doable.

Their parking fees are still terrible. For friday, GA is $49 but parking is $50.

It was $90 for all 3 days of Aussie V8, and well worth it. If you could carpool...

I think part of it serves to keep the number of cars at the event manageable. Obviously they're happy making a killing on people buying parking, but it also helps to keep plenty of people away and stick with riding the shuttles or helos.
